HOW DOES HOMEWORK HELP WORK?

Homework Help sessions are available at a set schedule (view below). Students will be able to ask a tutor about any confusing topics or questions that they would like more explanation on. Tutors can help go over lessons that students struggled with in class, create additional practice problems, and provide support as they gain the skills needed to complete assignments. Students will be in a group with up to 2-3 other students who need support in the same subject and are in a similar grade level. Currently, Homework Help is only for middle and high school students.

WHEN IS HOMEWORK HELP?

Homework Help runs on a set schedule and are available at different times based on grade level.. For middle school students, sessions are available from 4-5 PM. High school students can join sessions from 5-6 PM. Each subject has a session once a week and the sessions will run year long. 

• Math sessions are held on Mondays. 

• Science sessions are held on Wednesdays.

• English sessions are held on Fridays.

WHEN DOES HOMEWORK HELP BEGIN?

Homework help begins on August 31st and runs all year long. We can’t wait to see you there!

HOW DO I ATTEND HOMEWORK HELP SESSIONS?

PTRGV will be using the Remind app to find out which students are attending, create announcements, and to send zoom codes. We ask that your student downloads the app and creates an account to join the classes, or texts the join codes to 81010. We will be sending these codes via email and text.

Before each session, we will ask students to send us a message through Remind that they will be attending. It is important that you let us know prior to the session, so we can schedule the right amount of tutors. Around 5 minutes before the session starts, tutors will send a zoom link to the Remind. The link will be sent to all students in the subject, but feel free to ignore it if you will not be attending. Make sure to choose the link for your particular grade level.

CAN I BRING A FRIEND?

Yes! We want our students to feel comfortable attending tutorials whenever they need help. Because of this, we encourage you to register for sessions with a friend or to invite classmates to join Homework Help later on. 

If you would like to invite someone to join you, you can share the registration link with them. Registration is open all year. We ask that students register so we can have a headcount, anticipate when we need to expand, and so we can keep track of who is enrolled. Please do not just send friends zoom links.

WHAT IF I DON’T NEED HELP TODAY?

Don’t worry about it! Homework Help Sessions aren’t a weekly commitment! You can come to the sessions whenever you’d like some extra explanation or support in your classes. You are only required to tell us when you will be coming, not when you won’t. Please note that zoom links are sent to all members of the Remind, so feel free to ignore them if you are not attending.
