STEP 1: DECIDE WHICH TYPE OF TUTORING WORKS BEST FOR YOU
A QUICK NOTE
To accommodate all students, we encourage all middle and high school students needing some assistance to register for our Homework Help sessions. This allows tutors to get to know your child and their strengths while helping them understand what they learn in class. However, if you feel at any point that your child requires more individualized support outside of homework help, you can request that a tutor provide a single one on one one tutorial session. If your child continues to struggle after the first lesson, and we have availability, you can choose to officially enroll your child in one on one tutoring for a full six week cycle!
HOMEWORK HELP
Homework Help is perfect for anyone who needs help understanding confusing assignments and topics. A tutor will help you and 2-3 fellow students in during flexible 30-60 minute online sessions. Your tutor will walk you through assignments and newly learned concepts. Tutors work to help you master what you learned in class. Tutoring blocks for each subject happen on a set date and time each week and you are encouraged to come as needed. Registration is open all year ans students are free to come and go.
ONE ON ONE TUTORING
One on One tutoring is great for students who need more individualized and targeted help. Tutors will meet with you for an hour long session once a week for six weeks. They will provide power points, practice problems, assist you with any assignments you struggle with, explain past concepts that you didn't quite get, and prepare you for incoming lessons. Tutors do not replace the role of a good teacher but instead supplement classroom learning and help students gain critical skills that they may need assistance with. Since these meetings are structured and are scheduled, registration closes on August 21st and reopens every 6 weeks.
STEP 2: CHOOSE WHAT SUBJECTS YOU NEED HELP IN
SUBJECTS OFFERED
Students are allowed to register for any and all subjects that they would like help in. However, we encourage students to account for outside responsibilities and school work so that they can fully engage in any tutorial sessions that they attend. We do not want students dropping out later on, so please be mindful of your limits when registering.
SCIENCE
CHEMISTRY
Our tutors have prior experience with Chemistry through classes such as Integrated Physics and Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, and AP Chemistry. They are able to assist with many different levels of difficulty within this subject and have a solid foundation in stoichiometry, VSEPR, gas laws, solubility, ion charges, and more.
PHYSICS
Our tutors have been exposed to Physics through classes such as Integrated Physics and Chemistry and AP Physics. They are able to assist in many different levels within this subject and have a solid foundation in kinematics, basic electricity rotational motion, orbits, and more.
BIOLOGY
Our tutors have been exposed to Biology through classes such Honors Biology, Biotechnology, and Principles of Biomedical Science. They are capable of assisting students with work concerning many levels of difficulty within this subject and have a well-established understanding of cells, DNA, macromolecules, body systems, ecosystems, and more.
BASICS
Our tutors have a solid foundation in science basics from completing the elementary and middle school levels of science. They are able to assist in the science basics such as earth science, basic chemistry, and more.
MATH
Our tutors have extensive experience with math through classes such as Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Pre-Calculus. They are able to assist in many different levels within this subject and have a solid foundation in basic mathematical principles, algebra, quadratics, pre-calculus, trigonometry, competitive math, and more.
ENGLISH
ENGLISH 8
Our tutors have been exposed to this course through previous studies, and have personally attended this class. They are able to assist students with various different levels of difficulty concerning this subject matter through a well-developed understanding of the reading material, vocabulary, analysis of syntax, and more.
ENGLISH 1 & 2
Our tutors have experience with English 1 and 2 through personal attendance of those classes. They are able to assist in many different levels of difficulty concerning this subject and have a solid understanding of grammar, on-level literature, critical thinking skills, and more.
AP ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND COMPOSITION
Our tutors have prior knowledge of the AP English Language course through personal attendance of the class. They are capable of assisting on most subjects concerning this course and have a solid foundation in essay writing, rhetorical analysis, evidence-based writing, and more.
HISTORY
TEXAS HISTORY
Our tutors have experience with this course through personal attendance of this class. They are able to assist in many different levels of difficulty concerning this subject and have a solid understanding of knowledge required for this course, analytical strategic thinking, and more.
US HISTORY
Our tutors have experience with this course through personal attendance of this class. They are able to assist in many different levels of difficulty concerning this subject and have a solid understanding of knowledge required for this course, analytical strategic thinking, and more.
WORLD HISTORY
